Digital Excitation

It was about a year ago I saw Kiki live at the Dour festival. Back then I had just bought his album Run With Me, which is quite good. Kiki, after Ellen Allien, is my favourite artist on bpitchcontrol.
In 2006 he released the first volume of Boogy Bytes, which is my favourite mixalbum of this year so far. I'm getting more and more into techhouse, minimal, neotrance or whatever this music is called and Kiki does the job very well, mixing some classics, some of his own stuff and a lot of very good new stuff. Surely an eyeopener, this album. So much feeling, emotion, it's incredible. Wonderful.

The Archive of Misheard Lyrics
Hilarious!
The Beatles - Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds:
The real lyrics were:
Lucy in the sky with diamonds
But I misheard them as:
Lucy in disguise with lions
And much more...

new records
Being ill has some advantages too. I spend the first few days at my parents house. My kind parents don't mind me sitting behind the computer and leaving Soulseek on when I'm not behind it. That way I downloaded some new musical gems the last few days. At home I haven't been able to download music for a few months now, so I missed out on a lot.
I got this new:
Creedence Clearwater Revival - Cosmo's Factory
A archetypical 60's/70's band which I always wanted to get into only for the great voice of the singer. Ramble Tamble is amazing opener with its everlasting guitarsoloing.
Matisyahu - Youth
I haven't really listened to the lyrics yet, but musicwise it's very good. Mostly reggae, but played in a rock kinda way, I think. The titlesong is my favourite so far.
Maxence Cyrin - Modern Rhapsodies
French pianist plays his favourite pop and technorecords on piano. The renditions of Felix' Don't You Want Me, T99's Anastasia and Aphex Twin's Window Licker are incredibly beautiful.
Nathan Fake - Drowning in a Sea of Love
The new technokid in town, signed by James Holden's Border Community. This album reminds me more of Boards of Canada and M83 though. It's a good album, but not as good as the references. I look forward to hear some of his technosets though!

Things
5 things I would do if I didn't have an acute attack of sciatica:
1. Not sell my Dour-ticket and be excited about seeing Ellen Allien tonight.
2. Go to 10 Days Off in Gent.
3. Go to 5 Days Off in Amsterdam.
4. Visit friends abroad.
5. Go to the Love Parade
Now I'm just staying at home... :(

the joy of repetition really is in you

One of my favourite singles of 2006 so far. Be sure to listen to Justus Kohncke's sweet mix too! Hot Chip is for sure a nice band, though their new album isn't that good. But 'Over and Over' surely stands out.
We Share Our Mother's Health
Play the game of the best record of 2006 so far:
Scissors Game.
It reminds me of good old Space Invaders, but for some reason I don't seem to be very good at it. You'll sure do better than my sole 10 points...

First post
Okay, this weblog is new and obviously named after the great Soulwax song. Soulwax symbolises my love for both refreshing electronic- and rockmusic, so it's good to refer to them. This weblog won't be only about music though, but also about my clubbing experiences, films, politics, sports and anything else.
